This page provides an overview of International Studies Library's visitor services.
Note for visitors
- International Studies Library is open to everyone. You do not need to present your Library Card when entering the library.
- Before your visit, please search Osaka University Library OPAC in advance to confirm that materials you need are available at International Studies Library.
Materials whose "Location" in OPAC are "Int'l Studies Lib." are available at International Studies Library.
- Materials you need may be available at your local public library.
- You may be able to order books and photocopies from your local public library or your institution's library. Please contact your local library for more information.
- Please refrain from entering the library if you are feeling ill or have cold-like symptoms such as fever, cough, or malaise.
Service Availability
Following services are available.
- Using materials on the 3rd and 4th floors
- Using materials in the closed stacks on the 1st floor
- If you would like to use materials in the closed stacks, please ask at the Service Counter on the 2nd floor. Library staff will retrieve them for you.
- Borrowing materials
- You can borrow library materials on the 3rd, 4th or 1st floors, except for materials for in-library use only, if you have Osaka University Library Card.
- Making a copy of library materials
- Copies can be made at the coin-operated copy machine on the 2nd floor.
The copying fee is 10 yen/page for black and white and 50 yen/page for color.
- Using audio-vidual materials
- You can use audio-visual materials located in the AV library on the 3rd floor such as DVDs, VHS, CDs and LDs if you have Osaka University Library Card or Minoh City Library Card.
- Using databases
- At the dedicated terminal on the 3rd floor, you can use some databases subscribed to by Osaka University Library.

Announcement for alumni
Library card issuance
Graduates and alumni can make Library Cards for the "Alumni" category.
【Application Requirements】
- Eligible Persons
- Those who graduated from Osaka Universty, Osaka University College of Bio-Medical Technology, or Osaka University of Foreign Studies. (*Not including those who were Research Students, Special Students or Auditors)
- Those who have withdrawn from the doctoral program of Osaka Univeristy or Osaka University of Foreign Studies with the completion of course requirements
- Required documents
- An official identification which indicates your address such as driver's license, Individual Number Card, qualification confirmation, health insurance card, residence card or special permanent resident certificate etc.
- Degree certificate or graduation/completion certificate issued by the university (a copy is acceptable)*
* If you have been enrolled in the Graduate School for the required period of time to complete the program, have earned credits and left the school, please bring a document certifying your completion. (a copy is acceptable)

Three years
Special Alumni
Only if you meet certain requirements can you make Library Cards for the "Special Alumni" category.

Announcement for Minoh residents / Workers and students commuting to Minoh
Library card issuance
Minoh residents, as well as workers and students who commute to Minoh can apply for Library Card for the "Minoh residents" category.
【Application Requirements】
- Eligible Persons
- Those who live in Minoh City, or have their office or school in Minoh City
- For those 18 years of age or older (excepting high school students): we will issue a Library Card that can be used at four Osaka University Libraries (International Studies Library, Main Library, Life Sciences Library and Science and Engineering Library).
- For high school students or those under 17 years old: we will issue a Library Card that can only be used at International Studies Library.
- Required documents
- Minoh residents
- An official identification which indicates your address such as driver's license, Individual Number Card, qualification confirmation, health insurance card, residence card or special permanent resident certificate etc.
- Students who live outside of Minoh City and commute to Minoh City
- An official identification which indicates your address such as driver's license, Individual Number Card, qualification confirmation, health insurance card, residence card or special permanent resident certificate etc.
- A certificate which indicates your school address such as student's notebook or student ID card
- Those who live outside of Minoh City and commute to Minoh City for work
- An official identification which indicates your address such as driver's license, Individual Number Card, qualification confirmation, health insurance card, residence card or special permanent resident certificate etc.
- A certificate which indicates your work address such as employee ID card or certificate of employment

Picking up books from International Studies Library at Minoh City Libraries
You can pick up books from Osaka University International Studies Library at any Minoh City Library.

Students, Faculty and Staff of Partner Institutions
Library card issuance
Those who are eligible at partner institutions can make Library Cards for the "Partner institution members" category.
*The procedure is different for a member of the Institute of Developing Economies (IDE). Please ask at your library.
【Application Requirements】
- Eligible Persons
- Student, Faculty and Staff of Kansai University
- Required documents
- Student/staff ID card of your university
【How to apply】
Please bring the above-mentioned documents and fill out the application form at the Service Counter on the 2nd floor.
- Application acceptance hours:from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays
