You can enter the library temporarily on condition that you use the library materials.
- At the counter, please fill out your name, address and telephone number on the entering procedure form. A letter of introduction is not required.
- You can photocopy library materials in the library. Please refer to "Copying Service" for details.
- You need to get "Library Card" in order to check out materials.
Note for Visitors
The Osaka University Library operates with the primary goal of supporting the research and education of students, faculty and staff at the university. When you use the library, please follow the notes listed below.
- Seats are not available for private study.
- We do not accept study or research consultations from non-members of the University. Please contact your nearest public library or the library of your institution.
- Osaka University students, faculty, and staff have priority over visitors in responding to requests.
- To ensure the use of the library by students, faculty, and staff, we may restrict the use of the library by visitors.
- Please refrain from visiting the library if you are feeling ill or have cold-like symptoms such as fever, cough, or malaise.
*For use of rare books, please contact us at the address listed on the "Using Rare Books" before visiting.
*Some databases and e-journals are available to non-members of the University. For more details, please inquire using the “Email form for E-resource (E-Journal/E-Book/Database)”.
How to get Library Card
Alumni
Graduates and alumni can make Library Cards for the "Alumni" category.
【Application Requirements】
- Eligible Persons
- Those who graduated from Osaka Universty, Osaka University College of Bio-Medical Technology, or Osaka University of Foreign Studies. (*Not including those who were Research Students, Special Students or Auditors)
- Those who have withdrawn from the doctoral program of Osaka Univeristy or Osaka University of Foreign Studies with the completion of course requirements
- Required documents
- An official identification which indicates your address such as driver's license, health insurance card, residence card or special permanent resident certificate etc.
- Degree certificate or graduation/completion certificate issued by the university (a copy is acceptable)*
*If you have been enrolled in the Graduate School for the required period of time to complete the program, have earned credits, and left the school, please bring a document certifying your completion. (a copy is acceptable)

Special Alumni

Those who are eligible at partner institutions can make Library Cards for the "Partner institution members" category.
*The procedure is different for a member of the Institute of Developing Economies (IDE). Please ask at your library.
