The prepaid Pay-Per-View (PPV) service offered by Elsevier allows downloading an article from the Elsevier e-journals that the University of Osaka Library does not have subscription to. The University has made an advance deposit, which enables registered users to purchase individual articles at a lower price compared to paying with their own credit card.
This service is available to graduate students and staff members of Osaka University, who can use public expenses (management expenses grant).
User registrations both with Elsevier and the Library are required in advance.

To use the prepaid PPV service, you need to complete the following steps 1 to 3.
To use the prepaid PPV service, you need to have a ScienceDirect account registered with your OU domain email address.
Only the accounts that have logged into ScienceDirect from the internal network of Osaka University in the past will be authorized for the use of the prepaid PPV service.

Fill out the form “Application for Elsevier ScienceDirect Prepaid Pay-Per-View Service” ( Word / PDF / Entry example ), and send it to us by email.

Please check the following points before sending the form.

| Personal ID | It must consist of eight-characters placed in the following order: [one alphabetic character, six-digit number and one alphabetic character](e.g. a000000z) |
| Email address | The email address registered in ScienceDirect must be provided. It must have the OU domain. |

| Budget manager's seal | Please make sure that the seal is provided. |
| Email address of the budget manager | If you are a graduate student, please make sure that the address is provided. |
The Library will make the settings on receiving the application, and notify the completion of registration by sending a notice to the address on the application.

When applying for the PPV service, your budget manager’s email address must be provided in the application form.
Before registration, we will send an email to the budget manager for confirmation.
Please note that it may take some time before the process is completed.
Log in to ScienceDirect, and choose the University of Osaka, Prepaid (the organization for users of the prepaid service). If you choose [the University of Osaka, Library], you have to pay with your credit card.

Fees will be charged to the public expense account by the 15th of the following month after the service is used and will be paid by monthly transfer of implemented budget.
Please note:
The library does not issue usage details, delivery slips, or invoices, so KAKENHI (Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research) or other kinds of budget which need usage details cannot be used for payment.
The budget should be available until the 15th of the month following the month of use.
